Ford F-150 Plain Jane 4x4 work truck (Or maybe Plain Joe ?)

From Reid Cunningham: "Circa 1990 Ford F-150 in Boscawen NH. An old-fashioned work truck hopefully getting what it needs to get back on the road. It looks to have had a quick repaint. The popped hood, lack of wipers and a chunk of firewood under the rear wheel to keep it from rolling indicates it has a way to go. It's location in front of the repair shop is a hopeful sign. 4x4, 4 speed manual, bench seat, base trim and the two fuel doors for dual tanks suggest a utility-oriented truck.

1950 Dodge Deluxe. Saskatchewan. Where else?

from Alex Emond in Ponteix Saskatchewan. "Remarkable at 72 years old. It gets out and about in the summer and it always puts a smile on my face when I see it rolling by. It has a 3 on the tree. Just a good family sedan, built for comfort, not for speed."

AL: We posted a 1940 Dodge Deluxe, same colour and also remarkably original, a while back.

1960 Mercury Monarch Lucerne

From Alex Emond: Just back from a week in Saskatchewan . In Gleichen, Alberta I sneaked into a back yard for a quick shot of this big Kryptonite-coloured ride–a 1960(?) Mercury Monarch Lucerrne, of all things. What the hell ? I saw the Chrysler (below) in Gleichen,  post war behemoth with a grill that makes me think of Chicago, not a village in Blackfoot country. Just a few minutes west of Gleichen was the row of retired farm trucks (below). Out to pasture ... that big Reo has to be fairly rare. Then, on the way out of town, heading east, was a mid-fifties GMC school bus. Looks like an early effort at a "camper". Has potential. It's always worth swinging off the highway to snoop around.

William Boorne photo. Blackfoot Indians, Downtown Calgary. c 1890/ from a cabinet card in collection of ©The Trustees of the British Museum purchased from Christie's Auction House in 1981. I first saw the photo when it was posted by Paul Seesequasis, Director of the Indigenous Archival Photo Project, and author of Blanket Toss Under the Midnight Sun, and etc.

1975 Ford Custom 500 and the Côte-Nord

Ever been to the North Shore (Côte-Nord) of the St Lawrence River?
Well you ought to go.
                                                                                                                             all photographs ©2022 JA O'Neill
White whales,
Laurentian hills, salmon rivers...
..and clean old Fords, like this one, which Aidan O'Neill found near the ferry dock at Tadoussac, Quebec. Maybe the last four-door hardtop? I don't see a B-pillar, anyway. Custom 500s were the stripper version of the Galaxie and what became the Crown Victoria. Basic big sedans were very popular in Canada.

Dodge Power Ram 350 & Donald Judd's aesthetic as applied to trucks.

From Michael Moore, in Benicia CA: "A Dodge worthy of Donald Judd right across the street from me here."

David Branch has an original Juddmobile, a 1990 Dodge D250. Our Texas truck, a 1986 Chevrolet C10, is as American minimalist as it gets. And here's another post on our plainjane C10 And then there's The Donald's 1972 Dodge Power Wagon.  If you're not following all this Judd chatter, well we've posted more about the man and his work, and his aesthetic, here.

AL is missing Marfa these days, and West Texas light and compañeros. Hope to get back there soon.
