1957 Pontiac

from Alex Emond in south Saskatchewan, up there in The Country Formerly Known As Our Ally. "I was walking through an older neighbourhood in Swift Current with the dogs, killing time while getting an oil change. This pale yellow, faded Pontiac was hanging out on the street . Original everything and the interior was in good shape too which was surprising with the paint so sunbleached. For every 20 '57 Chevy's you might see a Pontiac . I couldn't see what they called this model ... no badging. Very nice , whatever it is . Cheers , Alex
AL: looks to us like maybe a Pontiac Pathfinder

Hot August Nights, etc.

from Michael Moore: Here’s the only sign I saw of Hot August Nights I saw when we were in Nevada...meant to mention that previous Merc seemed to be painted the rarely seen color - “matador red” - I had my VW convertible painted after I wrecked it in 1961. Rarely seen, not quite like the ubiquitous “hugger orange” GM uses. Redder.
…and this backyarder in Walsenburg;Which looks SO like those tiny cast lead toy cars I used to get for a nickel I can hardly stand it!

Foggy day, Eggemoggin Reach

Yeah, I know, it's an old truck blog. But sailing is what we do in summer, hereabouts. Here you see a Beetle Cat, 2 Herreshoff 12 1/2's, and a pair Bridges Point 24s. All are wooden. The Bridges Points were built just a mile down our Eggemoggin Reach, at Wade Dow's Bridges Point Boatyard.

Langdon Clay: Night Cars of New York Nova

The Langdon Clay photos knock me out. Weirdly beautiful, they have much to say about the seedy, down-on-its-luck NYC of that  era.

Sun Valley Mercury, 1954

We posted the Merc a few years back, and caught it again at the only gas station on the Blue Hill Peninsula that sells gasoline sans ethanol.

1957 Pontiac Chieftain Station Wagon

Alex Emond caught the wagon at a show & shine in Canmore, Alberta. The Rockies are hazed in smoke this summer, he reports. The West needs rain, and so does Maine.

Gulfstream 30, Eggemoggin Reach

Sailing up the Reach from Penobscot Bay. A Sparkman & Stephens design from the mid-1950s. Wind was coming up to about 20 knots SW by the time we made the harbor that afternoon.

Dodge Swinger (1971?)

From Reid Cunningham: "Fairport NY, the Carter-Mondale sticker is a great touch.  The interior was nicely restored, it the original AM radio and full gauges on the dash. Single exhaust so the slant six or a 318?   I was visiting the used tool store, you can buy donated tools and the proceeds go to charity.  I am guessing one of the retired gentleman that volunteers at the store is the proud owner of this Swinger.  I forgot to check the registration sticker for the year."
