1980 International Harvester Scout II. Blue Hill, Maine.

AL caught the Scout in Blue Hill, Maine. It was wearing dealer plates...we did a little looking and found the little beast is for sale at Stanley Subaru  in Ellsworth, Maine. Looks like it has a hardtop as well. We posted one of these--a Scout II Rallye model--from NJ a while back. And another 1980 Scout II in Portland, Maine--a diesel-- a while back. And this Scout II in Cambridge. Here's an original I-H Scout in need of rescue. And one of our favorites: this original I-H Scout 800 in Colorado Springs.

1959 GMC 100

We've posted a bunch of the Task Force GM trucks, like a 1958 Chevrolet 3200 in Oregon; a couple of T-F trucks in Marfa, Texas; and a suburban in Colorado Springs. and a 1959 Chevrolet Apache 31 in Colorado Springs. The truck posted here is on the block right now at Hemmings.

1959 Pontiac Strato Chief. Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

From Alex Emond. "This was a car show at Elmwood Park in Swift Current, Saskatchewan hosted by The Eliminators car club. This 1959 Pontiac Strato Chief is one of those Canadian-made curiosities with more than a few Chevrolet parts. The car sits on a Chevrolet Impala chassis, and you can see how far "inboard" the wheels are. So much for Wide-Tracks.  The cars (below) are also from the show:  a pair of 1957 Pontiacs and a 1953 Pontiac. From the mid-fifties to 1960 Pontiacs went through some drastic style changes."
AL: here's another Canadian 1957 Pontiac we posted a while back.
And then there's the 1959 Pontiac Laurentian Wagon.

1956 International Travelall

The original mega-SUV. We posted a 1966 Travelall out in West Texas a while back. and here's a 1968 Travelall that was up at BaT a while back. Today's 1956 unit, photos posted here, is on the block at Hemmings.

1970 Chevrolet El Camino

Look what AL found in the driveway. We have posted this car before. Maybe our favorite is the 1959 El Camino posted from Vermont. Here's another 1959 El Camino in Reno posted while back; a plain-jane workaholic 1969 El Camino on West Texas; a sweet '69 in Ventura, CA; a 1964 Chevrolet El Camino in The Netherlands, of all place. Then there was the 1960 El Camino getting overhauled in Reno...and a very chill 1960 El Camino in Colorado Springs; a 1959 El Camino hiding out in Banff...anyway you get the picture. We like these cars. And if you enter 'El Camino' in our search widget you'll meet a bunch more.

1977 Land Rover 109

This unit has a history with a fire department in Portugal. Has been extensively rebuilt. The image look kinda photo-shopped, and we prefer to see cars straight-up...but still, a clean-looking Land Rover. Don't know what transatlantic shipping costs. On the block at Hemmings.  Here at AL we have been posting a lot of Series II Land Rovers lately, the most recent from Vinalhaven Island, Maine. That link will take you to other Land Rovers featured here on AL.

1967 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible

Caught the convertible in Blue Hill, Maine. And here's a plain-jane 1965 Galaxie post coupe we encountered, also in Maine, a while back. Plus another Maine car: a 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL.

Econobox. 1983 Toyota Tercel

Econoboxes. That's what they were called, the sometimes-rugged, sometime-not little hatchbacks that sprouted up in North America in the wake of the 1973 energy crisis. They were everywhere...and now they are mostly nowhere. Many Japanese imports of the day were sensible, economical, and well-built little cars, but their steel was even more prone to rust than the Detroit strain. Survivors are rare. We spotted this one on Deer Isle, Maine. On your next visit to The Island, check in at the Deer Isle Artist Association.

1960 Ford F100

A while back we posted a 1960 Ford F100 in–where else–Saskatchewan. And a wonderful Ford F250 in Virginia. This here Pennsylvania unit is on the block at Hemmings today.

Austin-Healey. Deer Isle, Maine.

We caught up with this Austin-Healey over on Deer Isle. Don't see them too often in Maine, but here's a 3000 Mk II Austin-Healey we caught in China, Maine a while back. And another Mk II turned up in our neighborhood in Cambridge, Mass. last fall.
Then there's that Nash-Healey we know, out in West Texas,
