1953 Pontiac Chieftain

from Jonathan Welsh: "Chrome, curves and two-tone with turquoise -- it must be the early 1950s. Despite such color splashes, many folks consider this a boring period for Detroit car design. To be fair, though, one should consider the time line. For years after World War II, drivers were stuck with warmed-over 1942 models while carmakers retooled and reorganized after wartime production. So this Chieftain must have seemed fresh compared with the Streamliner it succeeded. This one, for sale in Westfield, N.J., also hints at a trend. See those modest tailfins? They would soar over the top by decade's end."

AL: We posted a 1953 Chevrolet 210 this past summer. And a 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air a while back.
