Back in the day nothing said " Professor" like a Volvo wagon. They were rigorous, they were logical, they made sense. Volvos are a different tribe theses days, much fancier, and you don't see many of this era around Cambridge. But the ones you do see look like they've been cared-for in only an after-thoughtish, absentminded way, sort of the way graduate students are used and abused. They were tough, hardy cars. I'm guessing but I would say this one is maybe an '83?
do you know Stanley Fish's essay "The Unbearable Ugliness of Volvos"? https://books.google.com/books?id=zaLZgySrb6QC&pg=PA102&lpg=PA102&dq=stanley+fish+unbearable+ugliness+of+volvos&source=bl&ots=NpA78r_vWp&sig=Y8O18olQ6rzr1qpWcjJEqW5nBOo&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwig0tL_o-vNAhUEFz4KHcNQD0UQ6AEILDAC#v=onepage&q=stanley%20fish%20unbearable%20ugliness%20of%20volvos&f=false
