Marfa Truck Series #1

I like June, and appreciate the wild green of it here in Maine. Spent 15 years in Santa Barbara where June is a gloomy month, often. No rain, lots of white-sky fog: what they call 'the marine layer'. Not what we in downeast Maine think of as fog. Here fog is grey cottony-misty stuff floating over the road,  smelling of Fundy, and everyone drives with headlights on. Maine June: shedder lobsters, poppies going wild, lupine, jungle green everywhere. Then I started thinking of last winter in Marfa, where the light is so sharp, the air so dry, and the Detroit iron (mostly) rust-free.

1982 F-250 Work truck Cloudcroft, N.M.

"Hou la la, ca, c'est une work truck! Found this treasure outside of Cloudcroft, New Mexico on a road trip. 1982?or thereabouts ford 250, the ranch bed is newer than the truck: welded flatbeds are a recent trend in farm/ranch trucks."

Our Nevada correspondent, MSM, just sent this. Photo grabbed by a friend of his somewhere between Winnemucca and Paris. No further information available. Looks to me like the original hot rod.

Concordia sloop and Arno Day lobsterboat

This time of year you see a lot of boats nosing out of barns. Brian Larkin's Blue Dolphin is looking good to go.

Down at Center Harbor it was very high tide, with gusts @ 15 knots, and heavy rain. Boats are in but nobody has done much sailing yet. I hope Scout will be in within a week or so.

Clean Maine 1987 Chevrolet K-10

I've been seeing this truck this spring whenever I've been in the Munjoy Hill neighborhood in Portland Maine. When I'm in town I sometimes have lunch at The Front Room up on the Hill. The truck is a 1987 4WD Chevrolet with an eight-foot bed. The grill makes it look like a Texas truck; so does the gun rack, the lack of rust and, perhaps, the Luckenback Sticker in the window, though that might signify a wannabe. 

Clean, nice-looking truck. Don't see many of 'em in salty old Maine.
