American Houses: More Three-Deckahs, Munjoy Hill, Portland ME
The Hill, in Portland's East End, has always been an Irish/Italian naybuhood. It's been getting tuned up in recent years: the housing stock is mixed, but there are three-deckers on every block. Sort of milder, Maine version of Somerville, Mass., but with excellent views of Portland's working harbor. You can find a bunch more three-deckers (and a couple of fours) on our earlier post. Or Google autoliterate munjoy hill & you'll see even more of the neighborhood.
