Daihatsu Atrai, Vermont.

From Jonathan Welsh: "These tiny (by U.S. standards) 1980s and '90s vehicles are quite hip these days, especially among younger drivers. Now that they are old enough to be imported without a whole lot of red tape, these "kei"-category micro vans, including the Honda Acty, Suzuki Every and Subaru Sambar, have formed enthusiast communities in the States.  I kinda love them. They are to Gen-Z as '57 Chevys are to Boomers."

AL: We have posted several of these imports, like this Honda Acty in Colorado, and another Acty also from JW, in NJ. Then there was s Mitsubishi 4wd van in St Louis, with links in that post to several more Japanese vans that first appeared in North America on the west coast of Canada.

1985 Chevrolet C10, Marfa Texas

That's the AL Texas truck, now back in Marfa thanks to David Branch, the old-truck wrangler of West Texas.

1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL

We're a bit late posting these photos from Markus Anstadt: "Thought I would get this to you before someone else submits a Halloween themed car. Actually appears to be an unrestored 230SL with the hardtop."

AL: last 230SL we posted was a 1968, out on the Naskeag Road. And  perhaps you recall this 1954 Mercedes Benz 220 Cabriolet. We have posted a lot on the medium-sized Benzi, including this vegan Mercedes-Benz 300CD

4WD VW?

This just in from Henry Behrens in Colorado Springs, where winter is happening.

F-250 Wheelbarrows

We're not fans of the swollen mega-truck genre (talk about a crisis in masculinity!) but when they are organized as real work trucks, with utility boxes and an absence of chrome festooning, we can think of them as, sorta, wheelbarrows. Or, Toolchest Trucks.

Mercury Grand Marquis

From somewhere in the mid-90s. The Ford LTD posted last week was one FoMoCo generation earlier. AL caught this car in Cambridge, where 4-door, rear-wheel-drive old-time family haulers are rare specimens. Have a thing for Mercurys---by the time I was 9 my father was consulting me on which car to buy, and I went for the 1965 Mercury Montclair, with a 'Breezeway' rear window. Best family car we ever had.  The 1965 Montclair below went shockingly cheap on BaT, a few years ago.
In Canada, there were Mercury trucks, like this 1948 M-47, and the 1951 M-3 we caught in Nova Scotia a while back. This Mercury Monarch was another Canada-only model. And we have posted a 1966 Mercury 100 from...Saskatchewan.

Chevy to the levée

It is still a beautiful country, and it is on us all to take care of it. And the boat down there? Vital Spark, a Concordia 31 ketch, built on Long Island, NY, early 1960s. She has a woodstove aboard.

1938 Cherolet coupe, Banff.

From Alex Emond, in Banff: " I was surprised to see this out in the "Industrial Compound" today. Don't know who owns it, or any details. Have to assume that there's some horsepower under the hood. Beautiful design– cramped interior, though, basically a two-seater. A treat."
AL: Compare to a Ford coupe of the same era. And a--spectacular–'38 Ford coupe. A 1940 Chevrolet Special Deluxe.
And this  '48 Ford coupe in Waldo County, Maine.

Land Rover, 1966.

Restored, yes. Ford V-8 and Ford 4-speed. Our favorite L-R is Grizzly Torque. Interesting that this model was marketed as a 'station wagon' in the US, a phrase that would have meant very little in the UK. But mid-Sixties was peak of suburban wagon-fest in North America.
