1985 Ford LTD Crown Victoria

From Reid Cunningham: "I've passed this very nice LTD in Exeter, NH and finally had a chance to stop while there was still daylight.  Seems like a great price for a reliable daily driver & vintage driver, all in one.  The naming convention–this is the Crown Victoria model of the LTD–reminded me that model names used to drip upwards to the top-line trim model over time, often requiring even higher-level names.  The LTD was the fancier version of the basic full-sized Ford. Then all the full-sized Fords became LTD's, and the top line was the Crown Victoria (with that lovely half landau roof and trim). Eventually, all full sized Fords were Crown Victorias.  Same happened with the full sized Chevrolets.  In the 50's the Bel Air was the top line, by the early 70's it had migrated all the way to the bottom (AL: or maybe 1 step up from the plainjane Biscayne) and the Caprice was the top line. Eventually all full sized Chevrolets were Caprices. Same for the Chevy II becoming the top-line Nova, etc."
AL: we posted a '56 Crown Vic from Sedgwick, Maine a couple of weeks ago
