The Border Country, Quebec/Vermont

West Berkshire, Vermont
I'm on the road every week this fall between Cambridge Mass. and Montreal where I'm the Mordecai Richler Writer in Residence at Concordia University. It's a five hour trip up I-93 and I-89 if I don't get caught in traffic leaving Boston, or on the approaches to the Champlain Bridge across the St Lawrence River. Montreal is undergoing a massive retrofit of its crumbling network of roads and bridges and traffic can be a snarl. There are plenty of beautiful back roads as an option on that route.
