Trucks, cars, highways, landscape, good writing. "You cannot travel on the path, before you have become the Path itself."

Autocar. Manchester New Hampshire
One from that pack of old trucks Reid Cunningham came upon in Manchester. Fifteen years of Autoliterate and this is the first Autocar we've posted. Send more, please.

No Wall Y'all
The big buffoon is pushing fresh plans to build a border wall along the Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park. A few years back, during the first Trump administration, PB did a couple of pieces on immigration in West Texas for National Public Radio's All Thing Considered. You can listen with these links:

Ford F-350 plainjane and Big Mack. Manchester, New Hampshire.
From Reid Cunningham: "The modesty of the F-350 caught my eye. A plainjane New England work truck: flatbed, snowplow, diesel... lots of capability, 0 truck-on-steroids design elements. And who doesn't love an old Mack?"

More transmigrantes
You caught our post last week on los transmigrantes. This rig was rolling though Marfa today, on the road to Presidio, Mexico, and Guatemala. This outfit is very common: one pickup towing another, Toyotas the most popular. both piled with parts and other stuff.

Ford F-800 and F-8. Manchester, New Hampshire
From Reid Cunningham: "A wrong turn and Google maps routing me through an industrial park on Manchester NH resulted in me stumbling across a trove of old medium and heavy duty trucks. My favorites were these F-8's, and I got some pictures of some other old haulers. My best guess is they are all runners...especially the Fords, given their excellent condition."

Slate EV trucks
Slate trucks are supposed to be available this year. If so, they could electrify the 'wheelbarrow' genre: small, useful, and increasingly hard-to-find workhorse pickups. Think Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger. Thanks to Alex Emond in Banff for the heads-up.

c. 1988 Ford Bronco II & c. 2025 Ford Bronco. Marfa, Texas
The Bronco II was a downside version of the large Bronco of the era, which was based on the F-150. Ford had lost track of the original 1965 Bronco which was on a chassis of its own and aimed to compete with Jeep as an off-road 4wd. That's the one people remember...as in that Zerolabs Bronco we posted last week. But we like the Bronco II, which was based on the Ford Ranger pickup.

c.1967 International Harvester Scout. Alpine, Texas.
Compare to the $299,000 Zerolabs Bronco we posted last week. I bet the Scout has more fun. We caught a Scout II in Harvard Square while back. For a few years there were stories in WSJ and other venues about VW bringing out a new old Scout. They are still promising...now for 2027. We posted a 1974 Scout II Rallye from N.J.
