1958 Pontiac Strato Chief

From Alex Emond: "Here's a bottom of the line Pontiac which lives in Hazenmore, Sask.. Sunburnt but sturdy ... sits well and looks to be in quite good shape , even if it isn't quite ready to rumble. It wouldn't take too much attention/dollars to put it back on the road. Paint might be an option but there are those among us that would resist that impulse ... that patina is pretty sweet. The " lustre of disaster" appeals to me much more than a perfect new paint job . Cheers , Alex

Canadian Pacific Railway, Banff.

from Alex Emond in les Rocheuses, back in...September:
"Banff got an early gift of snow yesterday. This is the period when summer ends and Indian Summer is late arriving. I went for a walk and was surprised to see this 50's /60's era train down at the station . Looking a lot like a "Lionel" set that my brother and I had down in the basement ... on a ping pong table. CP must use this train for vip/ corporate executive events. "They're probably drinking coffee and smoking big cigars". Anyway, it's not a truck but anything old, with a diesel engine and wheels looks good to me. I'd love to have a meal on the dining car, with the mountains rolling past the window. Cheers  Alex
ps these engines were a lot like our new hybrid cars , where a diesel engine generates the electricity that turns the wheels

1952 Buick Eight. Berkeley, California.

HERON
If only I were a
heron, my long legs in the
water, my wingspan
pressed freshly as the morning,
and a mouth for stabbing things.

1968 Volkswagen Westphalia

HBB caught the 1968 VW Westphalia on the Maine Turnpike. Day before, we were on a driftwood-gathering  expedition to Pond Island in Penobscot Bay in Bill's new boat.
