We own a 1975 GMC Sierra Grande 15 in Maine and a 1986 Chevrolet Custom Deluxe 10 in West Texas. Also a pair of 1997 Volvo 850 wagons. Average age in the fleet is 28 years--we're recycling. I've published 3 novels: THE LAW OF DREAMS (2006), THE O'BRIENS (2012), and CARRY ME (2016). Also 2 short story collections: NIGHT DRIVING(1987) and TRAVELLING LIGHT (2013). I'm an adjunct professor at Colorado College and in the MFA program at Queens University of Charlotte. In 2015-16 I was a Fellow at Harvard University's Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. The Italian Road Trip Novel



My French publisher Editions Philippe-Rey launching the French edition of Enrico Remmert's  Petite Art de la Fuite.  Facebook video up here. Don't know why 3 thirty-somethings from Turin are hitting the road in a right-hand steering Fiat, but the it looks like fun.

Trois trentenaires turinois se retrouvent embarqués dans un voyage improbable du nord au sud de l'Italie: Vittorio, violoncelliste torturé et hypocondriaque; Francesca, sa fiancée de toujours au bord de la rupture; Manuela, leur amie loufoque, gogo-danseuse et monitrice d'auto-école à ses heures perdues (ou l'inverse)... Rapidement, avec l'ex de cette dernière aux trousses, le voyage dans la poussive Baronne à doubles commandes devient une course-poursuite, une épopée déjantée et douce-amère où chacun se révèle. Au fil des kilomètres et des rencontres, les liens se nouent et se dénouent, les événements prennent une dimension initiatique, les choix s'expliquent et les masques tombent. Dans ce récit à trois voix, servi par une écriture inventive, Enrico Remmert brosse avec justesse le tableau d'une jeunesse déboussolée mais avide de rêves. Entre humour et gravité, ironie mordante et poésie, il signe un roman réjouissant.
